Remove PC Defender

PC Defender is a rogue anti-spyware program that attempts to make you delete necessary files from your Windows system. It comes in as a Trojan before you can watch a certain video, claiming that it must be installed for you to view the program. It runs a fake scan once it is pulled up by Windows, and then it tells you about non-existent threats on your computer. When it asks you to remove the programs from your computer, it really tells you to delete files that you need for your computer to function properly. It also requests that you pay for the program so the deletions can be finalized. Do not do this. Instead, install an automatic spyware removal program or follow the manual uninstall instructions listed below.

Once you have removed PC Defender from your computer using either the automatic or manual method, make sure to block it and other malicious software using a HOSTS file. Please note that with the auomatic method, your computer should be protected from future spyware threats since you now have a spyware blocker program installed. We recommend downloading the HOSTS file from here, which contains a complete, up-to-date list of malicious websites especially if you used the manual method.
